Coastlight Skylights Brighton & Hove wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or voice control. This statement explains what we have done, where the site falls short and how to tell us about a problem.

Our aim

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. This is an aim. We have not had the site independently audited, so we do not claim full conformance, and we keep improving it as we find issues.

What we have done

  • Colour contrast. Text and key interface elements are set against their backgrounds with contrast chosen to meet the AA ratios.
  • Keyboard navigation. You can move through the menu, links, buttons and our own page features using the keyboard alone. The focus position is visible as you go.
  • Images. Images that carry meaning have text descriptions (alt text). Images that are purely decorative are hidden from screen readers.
  • Headings and structure. Pages use a logical heading order and landmarks so you can find your way around with assistive technology.
  • Forms and labels. Form fields built into our own pages have clear labels.
  • Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, we switch off or tone down animation.
  • Text size. You can zoom the page and enlarge text with your browser, and the layout is designed to adapt to different screen sizes.

Known limitations

  • The enquiry form. The enquiry form is provided by a third party and embedded in our pages. We do not control its code, so it may not be fully accessible, for example with some screen readers or with keyboard use.
  • Maps. Our maps use OpenStreetMap tiles. Interactive maps can be hard to use with a keyboard or screen reader. The information they show, such as the area we cover, is also given in the text of the page.
  • Third-party content. WhatsApp and other external services we link to have their own accessibility standards, which we cannot change.
  • Older content. Some images or documents may be missing a good description. If you find one, please tell us.

Other ways to reach us

You never need to use the form or the map to get in touch. You can phone us on 01273 282313 or email info@coastlightskylightsbrightonandhove.co.uk. If you need information in another format, such as large print or a plain-text summary of a quote, ask and we will do our best to provide it.

Reporting a problem

If you find something on this site that you cannot use or read, please tell us by email or phone. It helps if you say which page it was, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you were using. We will look at it promptly and reply within a reasonable time with what we can do.

If you are not happy with our response

If you are not satisfied with how we deal with an accessibility problem, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which gives advice on discrimination and equality rights.
